US Households balance sheet

The US Federal Reserve releases every quarter a report called the "Flow of Funds Accounts of the United States" (or Z.1), which can be found here.

This report includes, among many other data, the consolidated balance sheet of US households.
Open the PDF file, and search for 'B.100 Balance Sheet of Households and Nonprofit Organizations'.

For Q3 2008, you will find something like the following snapshot:

I have highlighted in red the three most important figures:
- total of assets (aka, what households own)
- total of liabilities (aka, what households owe)
- net worth (difference between what they own and what they owe).

Now here is a little diagram I have done showing these 3 figures graphically:
Some important conclusions:
- US Households net worth is now about $56.5 trillion,
- US Households, as a whole, are far from being in debt.

PS: Surprisingly, I cannot find a wikipedia page on the US Households balance sheet, though there is one on their net worth called "Wealth in the United States".
